"Discharged just because I have the NDIS"

About: Adult City East - Assessment Treatment Team & Clinical Treatment Team & Intensive Clinical Outreach & Mobile Clinical Outreach

(as a service user),

Recently I was a patient at city east mental health and my psychiatrist said they wanted to transfer me to long term care. When they had their meeting to accept me they refused to accept me in long term care instead discharging me despite my significant mental illness just because I have significant support in the community. I only get 9 hours a week in NDIS support and have no other support system. NDIS does not manage medical I was even told by this team that the NDIS will pay for my medication, my understanding this is untrue.

Dear deploymentwf44

I am very sorry to read your story and what is happening with your care.

It is difficult to investigate your situation without your personal details and understanding your circumstances. I would like to have my staff look into this for you.

I would encourage you to contact the Consumer Engagement Unit on 9224 1637 or email RPBG.feedback@health.wa.gov.au so we can address your concerns.

Kind regards

Ben Noteboom
