Recently I experienced the sudden death of my Fiancée who was in Fitzroy Crossing whilst I was in Perth. The events of the day were hard on me as you can imagine being so far away, but I knew of the impact this would have on staff who looked after him, as we have been a part of the Fitzroy Crossing health care family for a number of years. I would like to thank all the staff involved for their professionalism and care during and after the event of his passing. It has been a real comfort to me and his family knowing that he was not alone at the end and surrounded by people who he not only called work colleagues but also friends.
My fiancée and I believed highlighting the kindness of others in a stressful job is important so with this in mind I particularly would like to acknowledge Sarah RN who was so comforting on the day to me via phone. Even though we work together her professionalism and caring nature through this heartbreaking time was above and beyond. When my world was crumbling, her actions gave me strength to keep going. Her compassion, respectful attitude and understanding was a real comfort to me since I was so far away, and I will never forget Sarah allowing me the chance to say goodbye when he had passed via loudspeaker on her phone.
I have worked within health for many years and every now and again your paths crosses with someone you know is fulling their life's calling and I feel Sarah is one such person.
