Admitted to Myrtleford Hospital (Alpine Health Myrtleford) directly from GP with high blood pressure, gout and concern re osteomyelitis in foot. It was a shock to be hospitalised as I am very elderly and coming from home. I have macular degeneration and therefore cannot read or see without magnification + am hard of hearing.
I found it hard to understand some of the staff particularly if overseas language origin but everyone was kind, gentle and meticulous in their attention. I was pleased to find one of the staff was an old family friend who worked night shift with my departed wife and this was very reassuring to me.
The doctors I saw from standish sheet medical were good at manning medication and discharge needs. I have now almost completed the treatment plan at the specialist foot clinic at gateway health and in Hume. I believe integration of services between all these agencies is important. My foot is now almost healed.
