I was admitted recently and presented with a dislocated shoulder. I was treated appropriately from my understandings and was discharged the following morning with a medical certificate for a week off work and to rest the shoulder along with pain and inflammatory medication for the following few days.
My shoulder the proceeded to pop out/dislocate twice in a period of time from the initial injury which I presented to the ed for. The second time it came out I presented back in at Bunbury ED and had an x-ray done the doctor reviewed the x-rays and cleared them of any issues,
The doctor then asked me about my initial time in the ed and I recall stated that when I was discharged, I should have been sent home in a sling and told not to raise my shoulder/arm above my head for a few weeks. I wasn't advised of any of this information initially and wasn't sent home in a sling which I recall this doctor stated that the above information is Protocall and should have been followed.
This doctor advised me that the best course of action would be to have an MRI on my shoulder and to be referred to a specialist. After reviewing my file from the initial injury I recall the doctor advised me that there was no mention/note that my shoulder had dislocated or any diagnosis/outcome and due to that miss information they could not refer me onto a specialist or the correct treatment path.
I would like this apparent error corrected so I can receive and have access the correct treatment which I've been advised is needed.
