"Endometriosis"

I went to KEMH ED after referral from my GP for suspected Endometriosis after being seen at another hospital ED.

KEMH reviewed me & sent me on my way assuring me it wasn’t Endometriosis based on my ultrasound results; I then went to a different hospital & was admitted with scanning done confirming the suspected Endometriosis and then referred back to KEMH outpatient gynaecology.

In the mean time I have seen 2 of the, I believe, top private gynaecologists in Perth both of whom have advised it is a very difficult and complex case above their scope and to see KEMH - my referral has been accepted as a category 3 by KEMH. I went for scans in a specialist clinic which show I am perimenopausal with minimal follicles therefore I am essentially infertile; with Endometriosis affecting all my organs including my kidneys, sciatic & piriformis muscles.

The doctors at KEMH are lovely that I seen in ED, I understand they most likely haven’t seen a Endometriosis case present like this because I believe it isn’t common, but now I am seemingly left to rot on a public health system that cannot cope & I feel I am left with no option but to wait and accept the potential fate that at my age it seems I am infertile, riddled with a disease that I feel should be seen as an emergency due to the complications and flow on effects to all other aspects of our health system. In my opinion, infertility should be seen as an emergency. I feel endometriosis should be seen as an emergency. It seems to me KEMH needs more beds, doctors & staff to help people like me.

Based on my experience, I think KEMH should petition for more doctors, more rooms - your staff are great but I feel that people like me are suffering while I wait due to the mental health & physical complications.
