(as the patient),

My partner and I would like to give our biggest thanks to the staff of the Bunbury Maternity and Paediatric team we saw for assisting in the safe delivery of our baby boy.

After my waters broke we went in for assessment where Bonita, one of the lovely midwives took us in to the assessment room where we found our baby wasn’t the happiest. After some monitoring and further assessment the decision was made to go for an emergency C-Section.

The communication from the team to my partner and I was excellent and made a stressful situation a lot easier for us. They were efficient, calm and kept us informed of the process throughout. Our lovely midwives kept a close eye on us, supporting both myself and my partner and we had a smooth delivery - thankyou to Dr Puvana and Dr Jim. Dr Carston from the paediatric team took our son and gave him the support he needed immediately after birth and with a little time in the special care nursery. 

We are extremely grateful and have now spent a blissful sleep deprived week at home with our newest addition!

Dear cyclonefb65,

Thankyou for taking the time to share your experience at Bunbury Maternity Unit on Care opinion. I can only imagine the anxiety that you and your partner would have felt when it was found that bub wasn't happy with how things were going.

I am pleased that we were able to provide you with clear communication and compassion to support you through the processes associated with having an emergency caesarean and your bubs admission to the special care nursery.

I have passed on your kind words to all the members of the Medical and Midwifery teams involved in the unit, as well as ensuring that it has gone directly to the staff team you have mentioned. I know that they will be pleased that they were able to assist you throughout your birth.

I wish you and your family all the best, and I hope that at some point in the future you catch up on some of that sleep.
