I had to make a doctors appointment to see my local G.P 2 days after being in E.D. The doctor asked how I was doing and I informed them I was now getting dizzy spells, light headedness and pain shooting from my head to under my eye on the left side. The G.P put it down to an unrelated sinus infection which I have never suffered sinus problems in my life.
I recall they refused to believe any of my symptoms were related to my incident and insisted it was sinus. Completely unrelated and coincidental in my opinion.
Not convinced and feeling very dismissed I accepted their treatment and followed their instructions to no avail. I then returned back the the G.P 5 days later with the same continuing issues only to be seemingly dismissed again and handed more medication for my sinus treatment.
Still no solution I returned to the G.P once again to request my first medical certificate from the original presentation. This became rather confrontational due to their insistence on sinus issues -even after treatment was completed but unsuccessful. They then charged me for an appointment to get the first medical which, as I understand it, should have been issued at the ED presentation. (I do believe this is double dipping into our system?)
After what I feel to be the gross lack of compassion and empathy I have no desire to return based on my experience.
My question to the department is who does our local G.P answer to and why are they seemingly not overseeing and checking their practice methods? Since when is $$$ more important than regional health as I feel it is based on my experience?
I believe most local community members have voiced their concerns on how this doctor's common practice leaves them feeling Insignificant and degraded. This is not good enough in my opinion. Regional people matter.
