My spouse had been unwell for afew days, they went to our local GP and were prescribed antibiotics. However they didn't respond and had a hacking cough. One evening my spouse was short of breath and very distressed so I ran them into the hospital.

The nurse on call was so kind and soon had other staff members to help her, their conversation was comforting and encouraging. My spouse's breathing was bad, their chest was heaving and I could see the panic in their eyes.

The change nurse tried to call the doctor on duty- this is what made me so cross! The doctor on call was from Bright, half an hour away and was unavailable as I believe they were attending an accident on Mount Hotham. A decision was made to send my spouse to Wangaratta for more specialist care. I sincerely thank the staff at Myrtleford for their care, concern and wisdom for calling that ambulance!

Dear skysf63,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the care your spouse received at Myrtleford urgent care. I will pass on your thanks to the staff and let them know that they provided care that was kind, comforting and caring. Your spouse's breathing difficulties would have been very scary and being transferred to Wangaratta for specialist care was the appropriate course of action.

As a small rural organisation we have an on-call doctor arrangement with Bright and Myrtleford GP's. When the GP on-call is Bright, this GP does not leave the Bright area and vice versa when the Myrtleford GP is on-call. While the GP does not leave the area they are located, they are contactable over the phone for advice and guidance for our nursing staff. I would really like the opportunity to look into your experience and get to the bottom of the GP not being available.
