"Emergency Department presentation, late one evening."

About: Busselton Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I was discharged from a large private hospital in Perth, following surgery the day before. Took one of the prescribed pain killers on the long trip home. Started to feel ill and nauseated. Thought it may have been car sickness from sitting in the back of the car. Once home, I expected to feel better.

Got progressively worse, light headed, nauseated and began to vomit. Several hours later feeling even worse, so headed into local hospital at Busselton. Adverse reaction to analgesia. Staff were fabulous, especially the nurses in the short stay ward, where I spent the night. Orderly went over and above providing ramps for my recently operated on feet. All staff exuded compassion, confidence and were very reassuring. I would like to thank them very much.

Dear hippojd55,

I am so sorry that you experienced such horrible side-effects from your prescribed pain medication.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay in Busselton Emergency Department and Short Stay Unit. The staff will be delighted with your feedback, and I will be sure to pass it on to them.

I do hope you recover well now from your surgery.

Your Sincerely,

Caroline Booker
