"I'm a cancer patient"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Kalgoorlie Outpatient Clinic

(as the patient),

To Who it may Concern.

I'm a cancer patient and I have attended the Out Patients Department at the Kalgoorlie Hospital For some months.

It seems to me they are short staffed.

They all work well together.

Very professional.

I was made to feel comfortable at each visit.

I felt I could trust the staff who attended to my wellbeing.

Some of the procedures are quite painful but all was done to make me feel comfortable as possible.

The Doctors Specialists and Nursing Staff show Compassion when looking after me.

This is a Mining Town.

They deserve a Medal.

The Out Patients Department is a great place to receive treatment.

Very Thankful and Blessed that I can treated so well here.

They do a great job.

Kind regards,

waltzhg76

Dear waltzhg76

Thank you so much for taking the time to post about your care in the Outpatients Centre and Cancer Centre at Kalgoorlie Health Campus. I can only imagine that this must be a very difficult, and as you describe, often painful experience. I agree with you that our nursing and medical staff are second to none. They work hard along with their other team mates, such as, administration, support services and allied health to provide the best patient centred care possible.

You are right in your observation that training, attracting and retaining the highly skilled workforce we need to provide these services is a relentless challenge. It is hard enough in the metro areas, but even more so in the country and work on this continues. Please don’t under value the impact that kind words like yours have on encouraging our staff and making them feel valued by their community. I will make sure this is passed on to the whole team.

Should you have any other concerns please don’t hesitate to reach to me by calling 9080 5817 or emailing Alicia.Michalanney@health.wa.gov.au.

Kind regards

Alicia
