"Feedback - Carnarvon Hospital"

About: Carnarvon Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Hi there,

I attended Carnarvon Hospital recently with my son, who was having some trouble breathing, and had low oxygen levels and was generally unwell.

I can’t compliment your staff enough on the way they looked after him.

He was seen strait through to a a bed, and had a nurse called Jyotsna. Jyotsna couldn't do enough for my little boy. He was quite nervous at first and she could see that, and a few minutes later returned with a teddy for him, to help him feel comfortable.

She checked his stats regularly and came back in between to check him.

When he had to have an X-ray she showed him the X-ray and his bones, and made him feel so special and cared for, in an environment and situation that I knew he was a bit scared in. Despite having someone to do it. She wheeled him back in the wheelchair herself, chatting the whole way.

The doctor we saw (I can’t remember her name but she was from interstate), was amazing. So kind and compassionate and explained things thoroughly.

They kept offering me tea, and snacks for my son.

I’ve had a few negative experiences at this hospital, and I felt really apprehensive having to take my son there, but I couldn’t thank the staff there enough- particularly our nurse and doctor.

I think they are both absolutely in the profession they should be in.

My son has been talking about how much better they made him feel all day today.

Thank you!

Dear tigertx54,

Thank you for sharing your experience with your son’s recent visit to Carnarvon Hospital.

I am pleased to hear that whilst in the Emergency Department both you and your son were made to feel as comfortable as possible and well looked after. I am so glad that nurse Jyotsna ensured that your son was cared for and constantly checked in to make sure that you were both still okay. Having a doctor to explain thoroughly and clearly what is happening can help ease stress associated with visits to the ED and I am delighted to hear that the doctor was able to do this.

I will be delighted to pass on your positive experience and compliments to all those involved in your son’s care, and I hope he is continuing to recover well at home.

Kind regards,

Kumar Deep
