"Tween Testicular Torsion"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Bunbury Paediatric Ward Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My tween son had to be taken to Bunbury ED with severe testicular pain. The ED staff we saw were fantastic. They took him through quickly, gave him decent pain relief and he saw the surgical team for a consult with in 20 minutes. By mid morning he was in theatre and back on the ward by midday. The nurses, doctors, theatre and recovery staff were all so kind, caring and swift. They listened to us as parents and were absolutely onto it. I believe the prompt response and action led to my sons testicle being viable and a really lucky outcome. We had fabulous nurses on the Paeds ward who made sure our son was comfortable and explained everything thoroughly.

We cant thank them all enough. What an amazing service. Thank you to you all.

Dear relieved-parent

I'm so glad to hear your son had a positive outcome from his ordeal. I do hope he has now recovered, and life is returning to normal.

It is heartwarming to see that our care was provided in a caring, inclusive and efficient manner. As parents it is vitally important to be included in the discussions and decisions especially in circumstances where it is an emergency situation.

We will pass on your thanks to all the teams involved in the care from ED to theatre and recovery and the paediatric ward.

Best Wishes for the future.
