I waited over 6 weeks to get in to see a specialist at hedland health campus. I was referred there as I had presented to my GP with an abnormal issue (never noticed it before) in my private area. I actually saw two GPs before I was able to get a specialist appointment and both could not identify my issue, they hadn’t seen it before but both 100% recommended I see a specialist.
I was probably in the room for 5 minutes. I pointed out my issue and recall I was told that’s normal, bluntly. I said two GPs recommended I come and was basically told that they wouldn't know cause they aren’t the specialist. To me it was not normal cause I had never had it before. Was just told if it got worse to go to the ER. If it was ‘normal’ then why would I go to the ER if it changed?
I just felt very invalidated and honestly so stressed and anxious because I had waited so long to get in and was out within 5 minutes with zero reassurance.
