Being from a health employee background myself I had some ideas about what would happen but being a first time mother, I had no clue really.
The MGP service at Armadale health service were always great with continuity of care, regular appointments and answering all my questions.
When it came time for labour, the antenatal assessment unit were prompt and friendly getting me in and assessing me for the birth suite and I had my same midwife Sara, attend throughout the labour and birth.
Sara and Liz both took amazing care of me and went above and beyond to be there for me despite my long labour. They advocated for the kind of birth I wanted and the interventions I wanted to avoid, they made sure I didn't feel pressured to go for interventions I was not comfortable with but supported me through the ones I inevitably chose to get my baby girl in to the world as she became quite stuck.
Having Sara and Liz there made my whole experience just amazing. Their expertise and bed side manner were more than I could of asked for and thanks to them I managed to have the vaginal birth I wanted and my girl is healthy and well.
The brief time I spent on Maud Bella's also saw me well taken care and supported by some lovely midwives and they took good care of my girl for her brief trip to the nursery and returned her to me as quickly as possible.
