"Care and support"

About: Graylands Hospital

(as the patient),

Shortly after arriving at Greylands Hospital, I felt as if my life couldn’t get any worse.

Not fully understanding the reason nor the purpose of my admission into Ellis ward at Greylands Mental Hospital, it seemed my life had suddenly spiralled out of control l felt abandoned by family and having withdrawn myself from all my friends due to meth addiction the pain, agony and sudden realisation of my circumstances was almost unbearable.

From the very first moment I arrived at Greylands Hospital under the Health Act, all the nurses and doctors I saw treated me with dignity and respect, they were so kind and nurturing on their every approach. I have felt extremely supported and often reflect on how lucky I am to be here, the commitment shown by the whole team I have met at Greylands including, nurses, doctors, social and welfare officers, and orderlies is remarkable and it has allowed me trust and surrender to the bigger plan, their dedication and abnegation has allowed me release and make peace with my own disappointment, realise of what I perceived as my biggest failure and surrender to my present circumstances.

Through the teams care in Casson ward where I was transferred to I have found the strength and courage to show up again in life and rise above my circumstances.

I have no words to describe how grateful I am to have been in the care of such fabulous people. I often find myself overwhelmed with emotion as I realise how supported I am and on my path to recovery.

A big thank you to everyone I have met at Greylands Hospital you have made such a difference in my life!
