"The Positivity of Nutrition and the road to wellness."

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Nutrition & Dietetics Department

(as a relative),

My dear mother has been admitted to the Prince Of Wales Hospital following a stroke.  I have been very concerned amongst several issues regarding my mother’s nutritional needs.

The practical hands on recommendations and advice provided by the dieticians here at The POW has been invaluable. It can be very overwhelming being a support for a family member at hospital, however I highly recommend taking on board the tips you will be provided by the dieticians here and practicing them immediately while your loved one is here. For my mother it is little snacks though out the day, mixing in nutritional supplements, being mindful of prioritising calorie enhanced foods first, balancing food groups, monitoring weight etc.

I feel the moral of the story is nutritional knowledge is powerful. I was so worried a feeding tube may have been necessary and we have moved away from that prospect for now. There are so many aspects to manage and this is a priority that is key to the road to wellness. Thank you to the dieticians and the entire team involved at POW.

Dear waltzrz66

Thank you for taking the time to write and provide such positive feedback about your mother’s recent experience at the Prince of Wales Hospital. The Nutrition and Dietetics team work hard to support our patients and appreciate your acknowledgement of the support, recommendations and education provided by the team that made such a difference to your mother following her stoke.

Thank you again for sharing your experience and I hope your mother health continues on the “road to wellness” – I have shared this with the team involved and will make sure they take some time to read your kind words of appreciation.

Regards
