"Quality nursing care"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Coronary Care Unit (CCU) G42

(as a relative),

I would like to commend the nurses I saw on G42 who cared for my disabled family member recently following cardiac surgery. At all times I felt they were professional, compassionate and understanding of needing to communicate appropriately. I would like to thank them for their care.

Another comment which should probably be aimed at senior executive management/health department is what I feel is the atrocious parking situation for staff. I believe that when a shift worker is advised an hour prior to starting shift that the secure undercover car park is full, as I understand has happened, it is totally unacceptable. To seemingly expect staff to find alternative parking in such a busy place which is both safe and affordable is unfair and most unachievable in my opinion. I feel this needs addressing urgently to ensure safe staffing and safe parking.

Dear branwy64,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your story about your family member’s care and treatment following their cardiac surgery at Sir Charles Gairdner hospital (SCGH). I am pleased to read that your relative received such professional and compassionate care and it is encouraging to hear staff took the time to ensure they communicated appropriately.

It will be my pleasure to share your feedback with the staff on ward G42.

We recognise that parking is a current and ongoing issue and I too share your concerns regarding the limitations to parking on site.

Parking is a recognised issue at the QEII site. This important issue has been recognised by all stakeholders on the site and has a high-level executive group working hard to find long term solutions. Thank you for recognising the impact this has on our staff. We are certainly hearing them and working hard to try and find solutions.

I do hope your family member is feeling a little better and is on the road to recovery.

Wishing you and your family all the very best for the future.

Warm regards

Jodi Graham

Executive Director, SCGOPHCG
