"Second Pregnancy at Swan Hill District Hospital"

We had a fabulous experience at Swan Hill Hospital during our second pregnancy. We are just writing to express our deepest gratitude for the care that the midwifery department and obstetrician, Dr Nicholas, provided us with on the birth of our baby son. We could not have had a better experience and feel very grateful towards those that provided care and support for our son and family.

We appreciated Dr Nicholas' efforts to create a management plan with us during our pregnancy that left us feeling reassured and later delivering our baby via a successful caesarean. I would also like to extend our thanks to Dr Eissara for her care during our appointments and post surgery follow-up.

The theatre staff and recovery nurses during our caesarean were friendly, considerate and caring, which made it a very calm and happy experience. I would also like to thank Dr Andreas, our anaesthetist, for his friendly approach and attentiveness towards me as a patient, even with a follow-up meeting after post-surgery. The staff made this time pass with a laugh and I felt nothing but support.

Again, I was so impressed with the midwifery team members we saw and their care towards my family for my second pregnancy at Swan Hill Hospital. They always made us feel welcomed and supported during our antenatal visits and went to great lengths to create a relationship with us and even my daughter. This was important to us and was one of the main reasons for us wanting to birth in Swan Hill. I was given a tremendous amount of care during my hospital stay and was given a lot of recovery time post-surgery to rest and develop a mixed feeding plan. I went home in a great state of mind and felt the continued support with the DOM visit at home.

The midwives' referrals to the Dentist, Physiotherapist, Breastfeeding and Post-Acute Care services have been very helpful antenatal and postnatal. Sonya was fabulous in her role with supporting mothers with Breastfeeding in my experience. I appreciated the meeting and follow-up phone call and her time discussing my pregnancy but also how I was going post delivery. She was non-judgemental and completely devoted to ensuring that I was feeling happy and confident in my decisions of how to feed my baby.

The radiology department were so accommodating during our scans pre-pregnancy and then during my pregnancy. The reception staff and radiographers I saw always put me at ease and made me feel very welcome and supported.

I cannot speak more highly of our experience at the Swan Hill Hospital, and we sincerely appreciate everyone’s efforts to ensure a calm and safe pregnancy, birth and postnatal care. Thank you Swan Hill District Health!
