"Wait times for children"

About: Monash Children's Hospital

(as a service user),

Hello

I wish to make a formal complaint on behalf of my child.

Early last year, our ENT surgeon indicated that my child needs surgery, and it was deemed they have moderate to severe sleep apnea, along with significantly enlarged tonsils, fluid in their ears and also requiring removal of their adenoids.

A letter was sent to Monash to refer my child for surgery, and I never heard anything at all to confirm correspondence was received or if they were on a waitlist. We saw our ENT again 12 months later, and they sent another letter through indicating the need for surgery asap, I did receive a letter to say my child is on the waiting list then.

My complaint is related to:

* No letter to indicate my child was on the waitlist the first time our ENT sent you the letter in the first instance

* Extremely long wait times, my child's breathing is deteriorating, they snore and are having trouble learning due to their moderate to severe sleep apnea. This is also having an adverse effect on their behaviour and attention in class.

How I want this issue to be resolved:

* Appointment ASAP for my child to have the surgery I understand they needed more than 12 months ago

From a very unhappy parent.
