"The forgotten patient"

About: The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital

(as a relative),

My parent was referred to the Eye and ear hospital from regional Victoria. While it was reasonably quick to be seen, I was told to wait in the waiting room. A hour later, my parent was placed back in the waiting room to be tested again in an hour! 2 hrs later my parent asks if they had forgotten about them and it appeared my parent had been. Left sitting alone in the next waiting room for over an hour, until I asked if I could at least sit with them this time.

My parent had 4 staff look at them and walk away when they approached the desk to ask a question, not even an acknowledgment. There has been no communication as to what’s happening.

It had been 3 hours since the initial assessment and still no communication.

Not happy with this service at all. I understand it’s an ED and it’s busy, but to be seemingly ignored is not good enough.
