This is regarding my parent who went in for ptosis correction in Sydney Eye Hospital. They told me what happened when they saw me but couldn’t really do much because they didn’t see the person clearly or get their name.
My parent is quite young and doesn’t look like a person who suffers from disability/ies. When they were waking up from the anaesthetic they recall they heard someone commenting to their colleagues can you imagine [they're] on disability and NDIS? And this person's colleagues apparently giggled.
Then later the staff member has the apparent audacity to ask my parent why they're on disability and NDIS. I feel this is none of this staff member's concern and it’s painful to bring up. I understand they again mentions it to another nurse before they leave, pointing to their head.
I feel this person cannot imagine the amount of suffering my parent has to deal with on a daily basis, I believe they have no right to bring it up with any of their colleagues, or ask my parent about it. I only wish I knew the name of that person, I tried to chase it up afterwards but I couldn’t. I only got a card with this website on it to “share this story”.
