I was incarcerated after drug related offences last year.
It was the hardest lesson of my life.....I had to leave my children to be split between 2 houses. Their father was also taken into custody while i was away, leaving them parent-less.
The emotional impact this had on me was massive.
Prior to custody, i was using ice. I had become homeless after a toxic domestic violent relationship ended. I self medicated with drugs and fell into a chaotic spiral downwards.
I knew that when i was released i would need support to stay clean. The team at Lives Lived Well in Nowra gave me the opportunity to attend the day program and learn relapse prevention skills that are keeping me safe and less at risk of a relapse.
Matt and Nelly are supporting me to be at home with my children, rather than being in a residential rehab. I cannot express how much it has meant to me and enabled me to start planning for a better future, a safe, stable and happier life.
The day program is teaching me about myself! The staff acknowledge how far i have come...,support me in areas I need to work on, and build me up and encourage me to keep going and push through some of the un-comfortability that comes with early recovery.
I am so very grateful for the help and support of this program!
