I was at Sale ED recently where I was told from the start that there would be a wait to see a doctor, I understood as they were extremely busy with ambulances coming in and out, and started waiting.
Almost 3 hours later, I finally spoke to a nurse in the early hours of the morning. I was called up and asked by the nurse what was going on and why I was at the ED. While I was speaking with this nurse I felt a lack of care and compassion.
During this conversation, I was offered medication and told that going into the ED was not going to change anything but I had no other option as it was a public holiday the following day.
The medication that was offered wasn't given to me until 6-7 hours later when I was being discharged and the morning staff started clocking on.
During the night I recall some other people in the waiting room had also said that this particular nurse was not treating them particularly well either.
As I overheard this nurse saying to a toddler 'Be Quiet'
I had also overheard while sitting in the waiting room that there have been multiple others who have apparently put in or considered putting in a complaint form because of this one nurse.
I have dealt with this nurse multiple times and every time I leave the ED feel worse than when I came in because of what I feel is their overall uncaring attitude towards not just me but, in my opinion, every other patient.
From what I've seen over the past few years, it seems that Sale ED only treats the patients they want to treat and leaves the rest in the waiting room until they have an open bed which is very rare in my opinion.
