"Colonoscopy preparation instructions"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Surgical Services

(as the patient),

Felt that the preparation instructions were not practical. It seemed to me the timing of the doses were to close to the time of admittance to the hospital. Had I followed the given instructions I believe I would have been forced to cancel the procedure.  My attempt, a week before the date of the procedure, to query the prep instructions with the surgeons secretary was, I recall, met with abrupt disdain and the discourse was terminated.  Little wonder then the procedure report listed Preparation as Sub optimal.

In conclusion I attempted to make my own adjustments to the preparation but obviously did not get it quite right.  Also I felt very disappointed as that part of the procedure is of the utmost importance to the overall result.  As a public Patient I am not given access to the Surgeon who only sees you just prior to the procedure with enough time to sign a form of permission.

Hello again,

I am just reaching out again if you would like the opportunity to discuss your recent experience at Busselton Health Campus.

I wanted to assure you that Busselton Day Surgery has all of the recommended colonoscopy prep regimes for all of the surgeons that perform procedures here, and that the pre-admissions and pre and post-surgery phone call nurses all have access to this information if patients require clarification. This will ensure that in the future if patients are unable to contact the specialist rooms there will be someone here at Busselton Health Campus that will be able to assist.

I hope that your recovery after your procedure has been uneventful and please know that your comments have been acted upon.
