"APU and medical ward"

About: Albany Health Campus / Mental Health Unit

(as the patient),

During my stay at APU multiple disappointing things happened.

A couple of days into my admission I was transferred to the medical ward due to hypoglycaemia from restrictive eating. Eventually I was transferred back to APU who discharged me the next day because I refused to eat breakfast. I was still very mentally unstable and wasn’t safe alone. While reading my discharge summary I noticed that they had diagnosed me with an eating disorder (they didn’t specify) and bpd (again they didn’t specify which type). Why couldn’t they discuss this with me in person rather than let me find out after I was discharged leading me to have unanswered questions about my diagnosis.

Going back to my discharge, I was then admitted to the medical three days later after my gp sent me to the er with a bgl so low that the machine wouldn’t read and postural tachycardia that hadn’t been amended during my previous stay.

Regarding the medical ward, the team there couldn’t be any more different. They’re amazing, they treated me with respect and compassion. They never once got frustrated at me for refusing meals or various other things that I feel apu would most definitely have.
