A few months ago I asked my husband to drive me to RPH Emerg. because my breathing wasn't right, I felt really weak and I had had work done at RPH on my throat and thought it might be related. It was a short wait until I was brought in. They were quick and thorough and kind at admission.
Inside ED my vitals were checked and an early 30s doctor said I should have a CT scan. I was feeling a bit better and ED started to get quite busy, with trauma and some brought in by police. I thought I should go home, thinking I was taking time from those who'd need it more. The doctor asked me to please have the CT scan first. So I did and he was right, it was bilateral PE and so I spent the next 3-4 days in Respirology on blood thinners and getting help to walk as I was quite weak.
They were very kind and kept me informed. I was very distressed when they said it would take months to break the embolisms. They told me I should still be able to have an op I was hoping to have in the coming months. It was scary but I had full confidence in the doctors and nurses on the ward.
