"The HCU & The Macquarie Ward nurses"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Macquarie Ward

(as the patient),

I was admitted to the hospital for a bilateral mastectomy recently with a planned discharge date 1 week later.

Due to a few complications along the way my stay at, initially the HCU then the Macquarie Ward was extended.

At times I was afraid and reached a couple of low periods but at every step of the way there was a beautiful nurse with a smile.

These nurses have the secret sauce in how we should all conduct ourselves. Extreme professionalism mixed with the most beautiful sense of empathy.

I wonder what it would have been like without these beautiful people there at all hours of the day and night who made me feel as comfortable as possible and safe in their care.

I feel supremely grateful to have been under the care of all the nurses during my stay. I joked that I was there so long I became familiar with the lingo (late /early shift) and could possibly do the nurse roster.

Forever grateful for the care I was given and in awe of service.

Many many thanks xo

Dear Nurses and earths angels,

Thank you so much for taking time, especially after your recent major surgery to post your kind feedback regarding your experience with the Royal Hospital for Women.

Sometimes it is necessary to have to stay a little longer than expected in hospital following major surgery to continue your care until you have recovered well enough to return home. I am sorry that you needed a longer stay and this was at times frightening for you, but I am very glad that you were made to feel comfortable and safe during this time.

Our Macquarie Ward and Close Observation Unit nursing staff are highly specialised and experienced and they are all very committed to providing the best care possible for their patients and families. It is very good to hear that you felt so well looked after and experienced compassionate and person-centred care which is so important in making a positive difference and we believe every patient deserves this high quality of care, it really is the secret sauce!

Your positive feedback is really valuable as we are always looking to ensure we provide the best possible patient care and experience.

Your post will be shared with the wonderful Macquarie Ward and Close Observation Unit nursing teams who I know will really appreciate your lovely feedback.

I wish you all the very best and continued recovery.

Kind regards

Maria
