Recently, I was taken by ambulance to Fiona Stanley. Not an emergency, I waited in ED for some time, then was put onto a gurney and taken care of. Some time during the night I was told I was being admitted with a blood clot to the lung.
Was taken up to the 5th floor and was taken care of.
Around two days later I was taken down to the ground floor for one night, then transferred up to the 5th on the following day. I asked why I was being taken up there, and was told that I had dysentery and diarrhoea. When I told the nurse I didn’t, I was told as they walked out the door that a nurse said I did. Obviously over the next few hours it was proved that I didn’t, so the next thing was a nurse arriving in full regalia and was giving me a Covid test as I was then told I had Covid and the flu. I disputed that, but was treated as if I had until they realised that I didn’t.
I was then told I was being transferred to Fremantle hospital, and was then put into a dementia ward.
At no time did anyone speak to me to test me for dementia except ask me often to say the months of the year from December to January.
It was very disappointing to see how the nurses seemingly spoke to and treated the patients.
My family now know that if I get transferred to Fremantle hospital again they will collect me immediately as, based on my experience, I would prefer to be treated by my family GP
