"Going for a 6wk xray"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Medical Imaging

(as a service user),

I feel that the Kalgoorlie Health campus Xray department is by far the most unorganised department I have ever dealt with, upon my child's arm being broken 3 xray forms were sent to the xray department last month they received them as the sent copies were used for the xray at 1 week 2week. However, they lost the 6wk xray form and after being, I feel, messed around for 45mins I ensured I had left enough time for the xray and attend the specialist appointment the xray department made me late for the specialist almost missing the appointment

I would hope that they have a good look at the amount of clerical staff as I feel there is to many that have a clear lack of communication

Dear magpie64

Thank you for reaching out. I can understand this must have been very frustrating, when you have followed the doctor’s instructions and allowed plenty of time to have your child’s follow up x-ray completed prior to their appointment, I apologise for the inconvenience this caused you on the day.

As you have identified we have had challenges in our Medical Imaging Department with changes in both the clinical and administration staffing. I am sorry this has impacted on you and other patients accessing these services. As a result of feedback such as yours we are targeting improvements in this area. We are providing further training and support to the staff in this area as well as working to implement a new electronic system to manage referrals so they can be accessed immediately upon a patient’s presentation to the department.

I hope you will see the evidence of this improvement if you or your family need to use this service again in the future. If you have any further issues, please do not hesitate to contact Alicia Michalanney, Director Kalgoorlie Health Campus on either 908 5817 or via email Alicia.Michalanney@health.wa.gov.au.

Kind regards

Peter Tredinnick
