I accompanied my adult son to Sir Charles Gairdner hospital recently for the above procedure. He was naturally nervous about the admission and, as a nurse myself, I was able to observe what care I hoped he would receive, as opposed to the care he actually received.
I was very impressed with all of the interactions with the staff on the short stay unit, from the CN who commenced my son’s admission, to the doctor who sited his cannula and obtained his consent for the procedure, to the staff member who wheeled him to the examination room and staff who cared for him post- operatively. I wish to convey my thanks to all the staff who were part of my son’s story that day, making him feel less anxious about the cardiac USS.
