"Excellent care in small ED"

About: Bridgetown Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I have just had a hip replacement. Have not gotten on to well with the pain meds, they have caused vomiting and dizziness and upset stomach. Recently my blood pressure was lower than it should be and I needed my dressings removed. So off to my doctor in Ballingup, she wasn’t happy with my blood pressure so sent me to Bridgetown hospital for further management.

I was seen straight away by the lovely nurses and a doctor and put into a bed in ED for some fluids via IV, I was surprised that the ED in Bridgetown is so small, even smaller than boyup brook hospital, such a cramped area for the staff to work in, in my opinion. I hope that when they do a refurbishment that they give them a much better working area.

The sandwiches and cup of tea were great! Thank you so much for your excellent care.

Thank you corvuscd67 for your fabulous feedback regarding your recent episode of care in Bridgetown Hospital Emergency Department. I will pass this feedback onto the nursing and medical staff in the Department.

We are extremely proud of our fabulous team in the Emergency Department and are aware of the building constraints, WACHS-SW is committed to prioritising the Emergency Department to improve patient flow and work environment to appropriately meet the needs of staff, patients and a growing community. I trust you are on the way to recovery and so glad our staff were able to assist to make your stay with us as comfortable as possible.

Kind Regards

Dear corvuscd67,

I hope that your recovery from your hip replacement is progressing well.

I just wanted to reach out again to let you know that I have double checked the building restraint which is impacting on our small ED has been appropriately escalated to senior management. In addition I have let our management know that we now have consumer feedback highlighting our need to expand our ED. Improving our organisation in response to consumer feedback is something we pride ourselves on, so whilst there is no quick fix for this yet, I’m certain its only a matter of time before we will be able to expand.

Once again thank you so much for your lovely comments regarding our staff.

Kind Regards

Helen Stuart
