I went into the ED Geraldton recently and when I was called upon the staff member that was attending to me couldn't answer any of the questions that I had. The staff member was saying they’re usually not in there and any question I had they couldn't give me a clear answer. I was having an internal examine done on my private parts and having a swab taken. I then heard the staff member asking a nurse on how to do it. And what was needed and was also asking how to use the equipment needed to give me the examination. I felt really uneasy knowing the staff member didn't know what they were doing or even what they were looking for if they had never done it prior.
I asked the staff member what the swab was testing for and they couldn't tell me exactly what it was testing for. I told them the problems I was having and they didn't even check all the parts that were sore and needed checking only checking 1 thing when there was multiple. I asked what the next step was and they then couldn't even tell me that. I recall they said that they suppose I would go see some sort of gyno, they don't even know where they would send me. As they don't know if they have someone like that working here now. I felt like this staff member was in the wrong area and definitely shouldn't of been the one to handle my visit.
The problem or (diagnosis) that the staff member gave me they said they don’t know if the swab checks for that, I asked if they could find out or if there is a piece of paper describing on what that particular test, tests for. And the staff member said they don’t know and will find out. I asked if there was a particular test that tested for what they were trying to diagnose me with and they said they’re not sure, I would hope that a Dr working in ER and in particular one that picked my file up would know these sorts of things. And I really think I was miss diagnosed. As after my appointment I found out that a blood test could of determined the diagnosis that they had given me. Yet the staff member didn't order any or suggest any other avenue to get results.
