"Midwife appointments"

About: Hedland Health Campus / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I had my first midwife appointment at the outpatients centre and it went really well, I was told I'd be able to come in for regular check ups with both the doctors and midwives. This was important to me as it's my first baby and I wanted to get as much information as possible as well as get to know the midwives that will be there when I give birth.

I saw the midwife only that one time and every appointment after kept getting changed to a doctors appointment.

It got to the stage where I was 36 weeks pregnant and the doctors had to step in and try to get me booked in for a midwife appointment.

I eventually got an appointment with a midwife but I believe it wouldn't have happened if not for the doctors and midwives stepping in to help me.

I think these midwife appointments are so important and the stress and worry that mothers go through trying to get an appointment, I feel, is quite significant.

Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy, and we sincerely apologize for any stress and inconvenience you encountered in securing regular midwife appointments. We understand how crucial these appointments are, especially for first-time mothers seeking information and forming connections with the healthcare professionals involved in their care.

I want to express our gratitude for your patience and for bringing this matter to our attention. Your experience has prompted us to review our appointment scheduling procedures to identify areas for improvement. It's disheartening to hear that the transition from midwife appointments to doctor appointments caused confusion and anxiety during such a significant time in your life.
