"Appointment waiting time"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Eye Clinic

(as the patient),

I had an appointment at a certain time. At the time of writing this, it is currently 1.5 hours later and I’m still waiting to be seen. I believe there is two patients infront of me still and they can’t tell me how much longer I’ll be waiting. I live over an hour away and relying on family for a lift due to eye drops. I feel anxious and stressed.

Dear scoreboardwd36,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your story. I am sorry to hear that your appointment was running late. I can assure you that Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital is committed to providing patients with safe and timely care and I sincerely apologise for the time you were left waiting for your appointment. Without knowing which clinic or outpatient appointment you were attending; we are unable to provide feedback to the staff on how to improve communication with patients/consumers or provide you with further information on why your appointment was running late. Unfortunately, there are often unforeseen emergencies that require the medical and nursing teams to attend urgent surgery or the Emergency Department.

To allow us to provide feedback, we would encourage you to contact the Consumer Liaison Service (phone: 6457 2867 or email CLS@health.wa.gov.au) to provide further personal details, should you wish to. This would allow our staff to investigate and respond to any outstanding concerns.

Warm regards,

Annie Thompson
