"MAPS at Osborne park hospital ( Perth , WA)"

About: Osborne Park Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I would like to thank my midwife Erin for being so supportive from the minute I met her. I had just experienced loss of my own mother and had has on-going mental abuse from my own dad.

Erin was great and professional at handling my mental meltdown during the antenatal appointment and moreover, she made sure I had all the support to have. I was put in touch with social workers and other resources about the strategies on how to manage the situation.

When she told me this MAPS is only a 6 month trial program, i was very surprised. I couldn’t imagine how it would be like coming to my appointment to see different midwives every time. I would never open up if I wasn’t in the continuity program.  I feel so lucky and hope this program will get extended. So others like me would get help they need.

Dear perseusdx46,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the antenatal services at Osborne Park Hospital. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother and the challenges you’ve been facing. I’m so glad that, through the Maternity Antenatal and Postnatal Service (MAPS) program trial, we’ve been able to provide you with continuity of care that has enabled you to open up and seek support during this difficult time.

It is lovely to hear how Erin has provided such professional and compassionate care during your appointments, and that she’s been able to arrange Social Work involvement and the additional supports you need. We’re very lucky to have her on our team, and we’ll be sure to pass on your kind words.

Take care,

Delaney
