"Positive Birthing Experience"

I recently had the privilege of delivering my first baby under unexpected circumstances at Broome Hospital, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the professional midwives, obstetrics and paediatric teams. My journey began unexpectedly when I went into preterm labor in my home town of Kununurra. Due to local policy the gestation of my baby precluded delivering in Kununurra, my labour was medically delayed and I was retrieved by RFDS for urgent transfer to Broome. What started was a highly stressful and challenging situation for both my husband and I, turned into a heartwarming and positive experience, thanks to the remarkable team at Broome Hospital.

From the moment I arrived, the staff at Broome Hospital demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to ensuring my well-being and the well-being of my newborn. Midwives Alyce and Tina, in particular, played pivotal roles in making this experience memorable for all the right reasons.

Alyce's calming presence and compassionate approach immediately put me at ease. Her expertise and professionalism were evident throughout the entire process, providing reassurance and support during a time of uncertainty. Alyce's ability to communicate effectively and with genuine empathy made a significant impact on my overall birthing experience.

Tina, too, showcased an exceptional level of dedication and skill. Her unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable delivery was truly remarkable. Tina's attention to detail, combined with her warm and caring demeanor, created an atmosphere of trust and confidence. It was evident that both Alyce and Tina were not just doing their jobs; they were genuinely invested in the well-being of both myself and my baby.

The entire team I dealt with at Broome Hospital exhibited a high standard of professionalism and teamwork. The facilities were clean, well-equipped, and the staff worked seamlessly to provide a positive birthing environment. It was clear that the hospital prioritises the well-being of its patients, and the dedication of the maternity team, with particular reference to midwives Tina, Alyce, Jasmine, Andrea, Talor, Robyn, Pam and medical team Rachel, Ajay, Ruth and Chivaun was instrumental in creating a positive birthing story against the backdrop of unexpected circumstances where I was away from my family and familiarity. I felt supported, educated and was treated as an individual, which as a registered nurse myself, feel is paramount in the care of any patient and was exemplarily demonstrated by the team.

I am immensely grateful for the outstanding care I received at Broome Hospital. The support, expertise, and genuine kindness of the Midwifery Team turned what could have been a challenging experience into a beautiful and positive chapter in my life.
