"The Quiet Pathway"

About: The Children's Hospital

(as a parent/guardian),

I would like to write about the experience of my son who accessed the Quiet Pathway at Sydney Children's hospital at Westmead. My son has severe disabilities which render it impossible to access medical care. If not for the pathway, my son would never be seen by a health professional. The Quiet Pathway is revolutionary for children like my son. It is a well coordinated pathway where Children are safely given a general anaesthetic and during this time several procedures can be performed. My son had dental work, blood tests and other neurological tests performed whilst he was under. This pathway is essential for disabled children to access health care. Before the pathway, my son could not get any treatment done at CHW as he was so distressed by previous visits. I hope this pathway will continue in perpetuity, it lifts the barriers to provide equal healthcare to intellectually disabled children. I would like to mention Dr Jonathan and Stephanie who pulled it all together on the day. It is an essential service that must be continued. I am a Dr. myself and I can see that this is innovative and highly personalised medicine. Please thank all the people involved in my son's care, which would include Theatres and the Dental Service. I would like to thank everyone involved on the day. Thank you a million times, virgohm64
