"Reception service"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a friend),

My partner came in via ambulance after an accident. I went to receptionist and was advised that my partner wasn’t in a bed yet and I’d have to wait ten minutes. 20 minutes later my partner messaged me stating what bed number they were in and that their nurse was happy for me to come through. I stated this to reception and was told my partner needs to check first.. they came back and told me I had to still wait as the doctor was in with my partner.

I am not happy with the service as I believe I have every right to be in with my partner regardless if the doctor was in there or not. I believe my partner needed me and for their mental health they need me

In my opinion, this was unacceptable and not fair on my partner or me

Dear Person-with-cats,

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback.

I agree with your sentiment! I have had exactly the same conversation when my own family have been in other ED's.

Please could you text (on 0472846355) or email (jan.child@basscoasthealth.org.au) your partners name and DOB and we will investigate and get back to you.

I hope your partner is doing ok.

Kind Regards, Jan
