"Portacath flushes at home by NCCC nurses"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / L2/L3 NCCC - Cancer & Haematology Clinics - Outpatient Department

(as the patient),

I have been having my portacath regularly flushed with the NCCC nurses who come to my place.  They have always been incredibly caring and able to listen about various symptoms that I wouldn’t know were important. For example, I had discussed symptoms in relation to the chemotherapy, and as a result of those probing and very good questions, I had the mix of drugs in my chemo adjusted at the next round, and the side effects were much less invasive. I think these nurses provide a wonderful service, and they are incredibly professional in their approach, and I wish to commend them to continue as they are doing.

Finally the fact that they visit you at home is a wonderful thing because when you are doing this chemo treatment, I feel the last place you wanna have to go back to for a simple Portica flush is back to the hospital so that is something which is so important and so appreciated.
