I visited Sydney Hospital with a referral letter from my GP to request urgent critical testing as soon as possible at any hospital Emergency Department. I chose to visit Sydney Hospital because of its proximity to my location at the time and the low wait times. I encountered Dr Ed who saw me immediately, and upon reading the referral letter was so compassionate, understanding and thorough.
Despite the fact Sydney Hospital did not have the facilities to service me, I felt Dr Ed went above and beyond to ensure he talked me through what was possible and kept me updated consistently. This included not just referring me onto a nearby hospital, but sending them all my reports, organising for them to consult and consider my medical history and within not even 1.5 hours he had coordinated for them to be ready to admit me to their hospital to get expert care and tests immediately.
I am so grateful for Dr Ed for not just palming me off to the next hospital, but personally ensuring my medical records were reviewed comprehensively so that I didn't need to start all over again when I admitted myself to the next hospital and coordinating a critical group of doctors to provide me care.
