My sibling took a significant OD, late last year, they were a week in ICU on Life support- I feel the nurses in there are next level, they supported us as we laughed and cried.
My sibling was then transferred to the Med ward B where they were discharged still in pain and unable to eat or drink, they spent 2 weeks at home, unable to be left alone, they were in pain++. GP wouldn't prescribe medications like in hospital, again they represented to BRH in pain++ and not eating or drinking now not pooing. My sibling went to SARU, discharged again, advised referral to a metropolitan hospital to follow up. My sibling went home for appox 4 days and again represented in pain, not eating, drinking or pooing. They were admitted to Med Ward A for 3 days, discharged and told nothing more they can do other than waitlist for a metropolitan hospital.
We took my sibling to Perth where they collapsed the day after BRH D/c and is now at a metropolitan hospital, post a 5hour operation, stoma due to bowel perforation and stricture that was poorly reported nor actioned upon.
I believe if we had of listened to BRH and took my sibling home and back and forth to BRH I believe they would have been dead or killed themself due to ongoing pain+++.
My sibling has lost 30kgs since late last year and is grossly malnourished.
BRH is a major hospital comparable to many metro sites, I believe there is no excuse as we are not rural.
