"Nuclear Medicine Department"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / Campus Centre 2 - Nuclear Medicine Department

(as a relative),

My elderly parents and I came into the Nuclear Medicine department this week for my mum to have an Alzheimers PET scan . So rather a distressing circumstance - prior to this I had email messages from the department - all very helpful through a lady named Madison - super helpful and accommodating.

We were asked to first come in the afternoon - then our appointment was changed to early morning and being as my parents are ( not easy to get organised in the morning ) , Madison kindly got us to come a little later - which was very accommodating. when we arrived we were quickly greeted and asked to fill in forms by the lovely reception lady - I wish I could remember her name - but we were all a little nervous . then we were given clear kind instructions and asked to wait - the whole process took 3 hours and every person ( every person! ) we encountered or observed were so kind and friendly and calm - I could see even the children that were distressed there were comforted . So thank you very much for making this potentially stressful situation , a non - threatening place to be! I believe you all deserve medals - for thoughtfulness , consideration and empathy . Well done!

Dear julynq63,

Thank you for taking to time to share your positive experience and feedback following your visit to the PET department with your parents.

We understand how challenging and emotional these appointments can be and we are grateful to hear you felt supported and reassured throughout the process. It is wonderful to hear Madison and our administration team provided timely and responsive communication prior to your visit and were able to accommodate your family's needs.

We are very fortunate to have such compassionate and empathetic staff who work so well as a team to provide exceptional person-centred care. Your positive experience is a testament to all the team in PET and Nuclear Medicine and the high standard of care we provide.

We are grateful for your kind words of appreciation and gratitude and will ensure they are passed on to Madison and shared with all the team involved in your visit.

Warm regards,

Frances Calabria

Deputy Chief Technologist, Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Department
