"Emergency department"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I brought my child in the late afternoon for a cut on their chin that needed stitches. We waited until the early evening which we were then placed in a bed to be kicked back into the waiting room a few minutes later. After this we got back into the room for the senior doctor to tell me they can’t use the gas now because the doctor they need has just finished. We had been there for a few hours by now. My child was actively bleeding as well. Half an hour later they told me that if I wanted gas I’d have to go to Bendigo. I told them I’m not going to Bendigo and to figure it out. They then left us unattended for an extended period of time because it felt like they didn’t want to deal with it. They made me feel like it was too hard for them.

I feel the service we were given was absolutely disgusting. They put us in a room which I recall had water and another persons shaved hair all over the floor. I found this completely and utterly unacceptable & disgusting. I think this hospital needs a good hard look at their the senior doctor on because I felt they were absolutely awful.
