I had slipped at the Barton Grocers recently and severely sprained my right ankle. I was referred to the Calvary Hospital by a podiatrist who specifically mentioned that the hospital provided moon boots on lease. When I arrived at the Emergency Ward (with crutches) at the Calvary hospital over a weekend, I was made to wait for over 30 minutes even when there was no other patient besides me, sent to two different nurses (one at Triage and then another behind the clerical post) - both requiring me to answer the same questions twice and then finally sent to speak to a nurse practitioner who advised me that moon boots were only sold for $100.00 and that they had only one sonographer that did Ultrasounds and they were already booked out for the next three weeks. I was also asked my place of birth and what faith I practiced (Catholic).
Has someone of colour had a similar experience and since when is religious denomination seemingly a requirement to treat a sprained ankle?
