"Scheduled breech CSection delivery"

About: Albany Health Campus / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

We had a breech Unicornuate Uterus

Baby boy delivered 39 weeks via scheduled c-section at Albany health campus.

The entire arrival, checking into maternity, in theatre, post theatre & on ward care was impeccable. The midwives were supportive, helpful, very tentertive even when the ward was completely run off their feet with high volumes of delivieries..

I felt at ease heading into having the spinal block, the anaesthetist was calming & very supportive & clearly explained what would happen & what you will feel or shouldn't feel.

The midwive who was there by my side step by step, was so calming & reassuring. She literally made the experience as pleasant as can be,

The OB, neonatal team were great at giving us the skin to skin, having my partner cut the cord, checking bub over & being there for any questions either of us had. It was our first born child and we really had no nerves going in for the day, based on my experience my best advice for others is to trust the professionals, calm breathing, speak up if you have any questions no matter how little or silly they feel.

Dear marsgn37,

Congratulations on the birth of your son and thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion. We are always grateful to receive feedback from our community and will share yours with the maternity, obstetric and anaesthetics teams.

It is great to hear that those things that are important at birth like involving partners in the birth and early skin-to-skin contact between Mum and baby were achieved for you and your little family.

I hope that you are enjoying these early days with your son.

Best wishes,

Serena Reed
