"Treatment false information"

About: Geraldton Hospital / General Ward

(as the patient),

I got admitted in Geraldton Regional Hospital recently and was discharged three days later. And I felt I was treated by the drs badly and horrible. Been told that I don't have a medical condition when I've had it since I was a teenager.

Mean time my discharge summary has been sent to me and I believe false information, been told I left hospital against medical advice. I believe that is wrong, I recall the nurse that was looking after me said I could go home and my discharge summary posted.

I went into hospital with serve groin pain and thinking it was another herina after having 4 already we got told no herina but under my discharge summary it says I have a 21mm fermoural canal herina under fatty tissue so now I am worried and so is my family and what to do. We worried to go back to regional Hospital for treatment because how I was treated, I feel it's not fair and I am very scared as well. Spouse and my child now can't leave me because of this situation now and we are all stressed.

Dear squattm35

Thank you for reaching out to us on Care Opinion, I was concerned to read your story.

Our aim is to provide comprehensive and compassionate care at Geraldton Hospital and it is always regretful whenever a community member feels we have not completed that successfully. Your feedback will be shared and discussed with the hospital management team to identify areas we can improve our service to our community.

We would very much like to speak with you to discuss your concerns in more details. This will allow us to investigate them completely and can ensure that all your records are correct and that you are on the correct treatment pathways. If you could please make contact with the Director Medical Services on 9956 8125 they will be happy to receive your call, then review your medical record and consider the most appropriate course of action.

If you are in pain our recommendation is always to present to the Emergency Department or see your GP. If whilst at the Emergency Department you feel you are not receiving the care or treatment you need, we have a service at the hospital called Aishwarya’s CARE Call. You may notice posters about Aishwarya’s CARE Call in the hospital’s Emergency Department. This is a 3-step process for patients, carers and family members to use if they are worried about the treatment being provided by us. In the Midwest, no matter what WA Country Health Service hospital you go to, this number is 1800 316 729 or you can find out more here at: WA Country Health Service - Aishwarya’s CARE Call

I do hope I hear from you and we can work together on getting you any treatment you require.

Kind regards

Cameron Ross
