I recently had my baby at the Albany Hospital maternity ward where I received great person-centred care.
When my waters broke, I called the maternity ward and the midwife I spoke to was very understanding when I wasn't too sure what I had to do and guided me about next steps. During my initial assessment at the ward, they explained to me very clearly about what to expect for a VBAC which was what I was hoping for.
I went home after the initial assessment and went back later in the day when my contractions were more frequent. I was supported by the best midwives who listened to my questions and concerns, and informed me thoroughly about all the procedures that will and may take place depending on the circumstances.
Although I ended up having to undergo an emergency cesarean, I was treated with so much kindness which really helped me emotionally after the procedure! My wonderful obstetrician, Dr Yen, took time to speak to me again after the procedure to explain why I had to undergo the procedure as she knew I was really hoping for a VBAC.
I am very grateful for the excellent care I received from everyone including the midwives, doctors, surgical team, PSAs, kitchen staff (my meals were delicious!) and the physiotherapist, during my stay at the Albany hospital maternity ward. Thank you all!
