"Compassionate person centred care"

About: Ceduna District Health Service

(as a relative),

Recently my mum was bought into the ED at Ceduna Hospital by ambulance. We were travelling to bring my parents from Zeehan in Tasmania to live with me in Gosnells WA. During the phone call with the paramedic the Ambulance paramedic was caring, supportive and respectful. She guided me in my Mum's care to keep her alive and safe until the ambulance arrived.

The nurses gave excellent care to my mum and the 2 doctors did a thorough assessment of her.

When her condition deteriorated the medical and nursing team worked truly as a team to provide the best care they could for my mum.

Dr Andy was respectful and listened to us as the experts in what care our mum/wife would like to receive. We were given sole access to a room with ensuite shower and toilet plus a spare bed.

She passed peacefully in the early hours of Good Friday. The staff cared for my mum with the utmost care and compassion. They cared for me and my father with sincerity and compassion as well. We could not fault the care they gave in any way and are most thankful for them allowing my mum a peaceful and dignified death.

You all made an extremely difficult time bearable and we came away knowing she was safe, at peace and well cared for both pre and post her death.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
