"Physiotherapist pushed a blown out knee based on his opinion"

About: Fremantle Hospital and Health Service / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

Recently I walked into Fremantle Hospital physiotherapy. I saw a physiotherapist I trusted. I have osteogenesis imperfector. I told the physio the outcome of a knee injury. I felt they ignored me told me that i had this for years and it is just a flare up. It seemed they then made a terrible assumption and put me on a leg press, they set the weight, told me it was ok and it wasn’t.

Will they take responsibility form this? No I feel they will not, I feel they will blame me and not what I feel was their lack of competence working with a person with osteogenesis imperfector.

Thank you, i told them i could not do their exercises, they knew my history, they have caused my knee to completely blow out again. I cant have my planned treatment. They have caused injury in my lower back setting the resistance above 5 kgs completely blowing out a successful back procedure i had. I bet you think i am blamed and i walked in with no back pain and my knee was quite pain free. What are you going to do about this, i cant have my injection, i cant go to work, my foot is so swollen, my knee is twice the size from when i woke up this morning, why because I feel the physio treated me and ignored me. I bet you say it is all in my head i bet you do nothing.

Dear Heart Brocken,

Thank you for sharing your recent experience with Physiotherapy Services at Fremantle Hospital.

I was truly sorry and concerned to read of the issues you have described with the pain in your back and swelling of your knee following a Physiotherapy appointment.

I can appreciate the frustration you have expressed in the challenges now faced with returning to work.

What you have described in your feedback certainly does not align with our goal of providing excellent patient care, and we would very much appreciate the opportunity to investigate your concerns in detail.

If you are comfortable in doing so, I would encourage you to contact our Head of Department for Physiotherapy Service, Robyn Timms on (08) 6152 3367 during business hours to discuss this further.

Please know that your well-being is our top priority, and we're committed to providing you with the care and support you deserve.

Warm regards

Neil Doverty
