"Care from MGP 4/5"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

I had my second pregnancy care through MGP 4/5 and I had planned this as I was hoping for continuity of care and a VBAC. My first pregnancy I was care by CMP but had complications with developing preeclampsia at 28 weeks and birthing at 32 weeks with an NELUSCS. Given my history I was cared by both the MGP 4/5 team mainly with Paula and had extra care from the Gold team doctors, in particular Dr Han-Shin.

The care from these two professions in particular was exceptional. I felt nurtured and supported at each stage. I had multiple occasions of requiring further care but was able to birth at 37 weeks. Although I had a CS in the end, I am happy with the decision as I developed PIH. Without this personalised and high quality care I am sure I would have not had such a healing birth.

Dear melonek38,

I was very touched to read about the healing birth you had under the care of Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) 4/5 and the Gold team at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH). Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your journey, and congratulations on the arrival of your new baby.

MPG 4/5 provides the opportunity to receive continuity of care from a known midwife for women with a more complex obstetric history in collaboration with medical, obstetric and allied health staff. Your story is a testament to the positive patient experience that can result from these effective partnerships. We will be very happy to pass on to Paula and Dr Han-Shin your gratitude for the high-quality care you received.

Kindest regards,

Delaney
